Wilbo’s Blends BY VAL ALDRIDGE – KETOGENIC FAMILY SUPPORT
I would like to follow up on Sue Wood’s article a couple of years ago about a commercially made blended feed, Wilbo’s Blends, that for some on KDT may be easily adapted.
See Sue's Article here
Since that time Wilbo’s Blends have released a couple of new recipes. Two vegetarian options. Both contain around 10g fibre. The first, Thai coconut rice with greens and ginger. Each 275g pouch provides 314kcal, 22.7g fat, 11.6g carbohydrate and 4.4g Protein, so it starts out at a 1.4:1 ketogenic ratio but would lend itself to adjustment to meet individual calorie and ketogenic ratio needs. For example: • Add 10g fat (e.g. 20ml Calogen) and you have a 2:1 ratio feed providing 404kcal. The protein content is pretty low so may also need extra adding in, but it may suit some.
The other pouch available. Red lentil Dhal with pumpkin seed and coriander. Each 275g pouch provides 377kcal, 20.9g fat, 26g carbohydrate and 9.1g Protein. So, not exactly keto but I thought it would be worth highlighting as it may be a good one for those using blended diet and weaning off KDT.
As always with ketogenic diets, individualisation is crucial so do speak to your keto dietitian if you wish to change the way you are delivering your keto blended feeds or have any queries about new food products or ingredients.
PLEASE ENSURE YOU CHECK PRODUCT LABELS FOR VALUES PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY TYPE OF KETOGENIC DIET WITHOUT MEDICAL SUPERVISION
